About QR Codes

QR (Quick Response) codes are two-dimensional barcodes that can store significantly more data than traditional one-dimensional barcodes. Developed by Denso Wave in 1994, they became ubiquitous with the rise of smartphones, which can scan them using the built-in camera app without any additional software.

QR codes are used for linking physical marketing materials to websites, contactless menus, digital payment systems, contact sharing, and Wi-Fi credential sharing. The error correction capability of QR codes allows them to remain readable even when partially damaged or obscured.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the QR Code Generator be available?

The QR code generator is currently in development. It will be implemented using a client-side JavaScript library so all generation happens in your browser without data being sent to any server.

What can I encode in a QR code?

QR codes can encode URLs, plain text, email addresses, phone numbers, Wi-Fi credentials, SMS messages, and more. The most common use is encoding a URL so mobile users can scan it with their camera.

What size QR code should I create?

For print use, generate a minimum of 300x300 pixels and ensure the QR code has a white quiet zone (border) of at least 4 modules around it. For digital use, 200x200 pixels is usually sufficient.
